‘Hotel Artemis’ Looks Like ‘John Wick’ Set In A Secret Futuristic Hospital For Criminals

Jeff Goldblum

John Wick is one of the biggest franchise of the last few years, so it’s no surprise that people are looking to cash in on its success by emulating its formula.

‘Hotel Artemis’ is the first movie that plays on the John Wick vibe by creating a secret hospital where criminals go to get fixed up, much like The Continental Hotel where all the criminals hang out in John Wick. Much like The Continental, The Hotel Artemis only manages to exist due to a strict set of rules that have to be adhered to, but these are put to the test on one particularly trying night when crime boss Jeff Goldblum comes to visit.

You can watch the trailer and read the official synopsis of the movie below:

The Nurse (Foster) is the manager of the Hotel Artemis, an ultra-exclusive, members-only hospital hidden in a hotel redolent of faded 1920’s glamour.

Tough, sharp and utterly fearless, The Nurse treats an assortment of assassins, gunrunners, thieves and gangsters in an unexpected state-of-the-art emergency room capable of providing a new liver with a 3-D printer or injecting a patient with nanobots that heal from the inside out.

One night as a violent riot rages on the streets of Los Angeles, legendary crime boss Orian Franklin, aka Niagra (Goldblum), arrives needing immediate treatment after a failed attempt on his life.

Niagara’s sudden arrival creates a violent clash among the criminals in the hospital, with one ‘patient’ having a particularly deadly motive for checking into the hotel.

The Nurse makes a decision that could jeopardize the future of the ER and everyone in it. Now the safest place for criminals in the city has become the most dangerous.

I mean it looks and sounds pretty good right? But man is Jodie Foster looking old – not sure if she’s actually that old or it’s just some makeup effects. Either way fairly sure she’s gonna be a badass in this movie and kick some serious butt.

In case you’re wondering, Drew Perace has written a bunch of decent action movies like Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Iron Man 3 and this is his directorial debut so he should know what’s up and handle this fairly well. He’s assembled an impressive enough cast who seem to trust him anyhow, so that’s somewhat of an indication that this movie is going to completely kill it. The summer can’t come soon enough.

For more of the same, check out the alleged plot of John Wick 3. That’s gonna be a good one too.
