This time last week, I didn’t have a clue what ‘Pokemon Go’ was. This week, it’s the only thing the internet is talking about, and has exploded at such a rate that it now boasts more users than Twitter. That is fucking insane.

But there’s at least one place that would really like to keep the Pokemon out – the Holocaust Museum in D.C.

The museum, along with many other landmarks, is a ‘PokeStop’ within the game – a place where players can get free in-game items. As such, the place is getting swamped with nerds walking around in circles, staring at their phones.

Andrew Hollinger, the museum’s communications director, says:

Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism. We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game.

Here’s an image of what one player encountered inside the museum:

I guess it could get a bit annoying when you’re trying to educate a group of visitors about the Nazis’ rise to power and then some kid rocks up out of nowhere trying to catch Koffin – the poison gas Pokemon. Just a tad bit inappropriate.
