I was never really a fan of the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ movies – way too long with way too many annoying characters – but I know that there’s a large amount of people out there who absolutely lose their minds over them and I assume they’re probably going to do the same over Amazon Prime’s new prequel series.

‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ is set thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord Of The Rings’ and explores the creation of the mythical rings in Middle Earth. Elven queen Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry) are all set to reprise their roles from Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy alongside a host of new characters delving into the mythos of Tolkien’s epic fantasy world.

Take a look at the trailer below:

Well that looked suitably big budget didn’t it, although I’m not really any the wiser about the storylines that the series will seek to tell. Apparently Amazon have already spent $1 billion on it though and plan on running the show for five seasons so they can explore loads of different events in Tolkien’s mythology, including Sauron’s rise to prominence and the climactic Last Alliance of Elves and Men assembled to overthrow him. Sounds like it should be a blast. Only got a couple of months to wait.

For more of the same, check out this ‘Lord Of The Rings’ train prank. Classic stuff.
