It’s hard to believe that it’s been over two years since Greggs introduced their legendary vegan sausage roll – and were met with a humongous internet backlash despite their sales going through the roof – so it’s kind of surprising that it’s taken them so long to introduce a vegan version of another one of their favourites, the sausage, bean and cheese melt.

The news was announced via this cute little message on their Twitter account earlier this morning:

Amazingly, most people in the comments actually seem stoked on this latest addition to the Greggs menu and there aren’t loads of people saying stuff like ‘HoW can U call it Sausag wiv no meet in it? Dat’s no sausag’, but it’s only been up for an hour or so at the time of writing so give it some time. I’m sure when Piers Morgan finds out about this then there will be a whole army of morons descending onto the comments.

Sadly, the advent of the Vegan Sausage, Bean and Cheeze melt does sadly mean that the Vegan Steak Bake will no longer be an option at Greggs, with the company Twitter taking the time to explain this in a reply to  one of the punters:

Damn. Can’t actually ever remember having one of those but it seems silly that there’s not enough room for all of the vegan options they have on their roster. I guess it probably wasn’t selling that well and they have access to the stats and I don’t, so fair enough.

For more of the same, check out when someone created a Greggs pasty pizza. What the heck is all that about?
