Gorillaz – the massively successful ‘virtual’ band featuring Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett – have been on hiatus for the last five years, but finally returned with a new track yesterday.

The track is called Saturnz Barz (Sprit House) and it also features Popcaan. You can check out the track – which is a dark, moody hip hop banger – and the accompanying short film below, which sees the gang investigating a creepy haunted house and making some very questionable decisions:

Worth the wait eh? Gotta love that autotune. That stupid way he sings ‘All my life’ will be stuck in your head all day.

The good news is that this isn’t just a one off release either – the band have a new album called Humanz dropping on April 28th. As well as Popcaan, guests on the album include Grace Jones, De La Soul, Savages’ Jehnny Beth, Danny Brown, Pusha T, Mavis Staples, Kali Uchis, Kelela, Vince Staples, DRAM, Jamie Principle, Kilo Kish, Anthony Hamilton, Peven Everett, and Zebra Katz. Phew. Here’s what Damon Albarn had to say about it:

We’re in transition we’re turning into something else.

This album came from this dark fantasy that came into my head at the beginning of last year. Just imagine the most weirdest, most unpredictable thing happening that changes everything about the world.

How will you feel on that night? It’s not about Donald Trump at all, but we were imagining that happening in a way, and that was our dark fantasy that became a reality.

Can’t wait. For more Gorillaz, watch Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher team up to play some of their songs. Burying the hatchet.
