Given the massive rivalry between Blur and Oasis as the height of Britpop in the 90s, it seemed unlikely that we would ever see something like this go down. But everyone’s a lot older and wiser and more mellow now, so you can actually now see Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn team up to sing Gorillaz songs.

The occasion was Paul Simonon’s – bass player of The Clash – birthday and Noel and Damon weren’t the only celebrities who showed up to celebrate it. Chrissie Hynde also joined the pair to sing The Clash’s ‘Brand New Cadillac’ and Kano also showed up to help Damon sing Clint Eastwood.

You can check out a couple of videos from the event below:

Well yeah that’s nice isn’t it – it looks like it was a real fun time.

I know that The Clash are obviously a hugely influential band in the history of music, but I’ve got to say I’m still pretty surprised that their bassist’s birthday party attracted so many big names to perform. Maybe it was a big one like his 60th or something.

Still, it’s great that Noel and Damon put aside past differences to perform together. Now all we need is a collaboration between the two and the world will be turned on its head – just make sure that the music video is good otherwise you’ll never hear the end of it from Noel.
