Former Tory Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi Defects To Reform UK

It’s a day ending in ‘y’, which means another former Tory has defected to Reform UK and aligned themselves with Nigel Farage.

This time – it’s former Conservative Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi. Although you’d think he would have deleted this first before making the big announcement:

And this:

A Sky News reporter brought up the first Tweet to Nadhim Zahawi at a press conference this morning, as he was sat next to Farage.

Zahawi initially laughed and said: “Good on you for digging out a tweet from 11 years ago”.

He defended his current position by stating: “If I thought this man sitting next to me in any way had an issue with people of my colour or my background who have come to this country… I wouldn’t be sitting next to him. And I think he wouldn’t be sitting next to me, either”.

Zahawi claimed that accusations of racism have become so widespread (citing “coffee, picnics, electricity and mathematics” as things that have been called racist) that the line of criticism is now “a joke”.

Well, I suppose that’s fair enough. 11 years is a long time so it’s not crazy to think that Zahawi’s views on Nigel Farage may have changed.

And so, Nadhim Zahawi, another former Tory privately educated at one of the most expensive schools on earth, has joined “anti-elite” Reform UK. Did you know that he once “accidentally” underpaid HMRC around £3.7 MILLION in tax? I mean, which one of us hasn’t done that, right?

With so many Tories jumping ship though, is Reform UK at risk of becoming… The Tory party? All the loons who got the country into the mess it’s in are moving over to Reform one by one. That might not turn out to be such a great thing for Nigel Farage and Reform.
