As the country heads towards being placed entirely in a tier three lockdown – this is probably going to happen, isn’t it? – we’ve now received some even worse news about the impact of the pandemic as an exorcist has revealed that COVID-19 has made it way easier for us to get possessed by a demon. Jesus Christ, that’s all we need right now hey?

The warning comes courtesy of Father Ronaldo Alblong, head padre at St. Vincent Ferrer in Barangay Camanjac in the Philippines, who said the following:

The devil is always around 24/7, and rides on to events in our surroundings, such as our problems, trials, illnesses, pain, and crisis.

In fact, at the start of the pandemic, the exorcists in Manila came out with a deliverance prayer and they called me and asked me to join them to curb the effects of the devil’s actions, especially at a time of confusion.

Either we grow spiritually or we get discouraged and then we question God why is this happening.

The ordinary action of the devil is temptation which happens every day and to anyone but there is also what we call extraordinary diabolical action.

We have to be humble as we are not in control of the situation.

Even rich countries and the most powerful in the world are not spared from the Covid-19.

Yeah that kinda sounds like he’s just talking mumbo jumbo and not really offering a reason why the current pandemic makes it more likely for us to get possessed, but I guess that’s in keeping with how weird exorcist priests normally act so at least he’s keeping that stereotype alive. I think what he’s trying to say is that the devil is more likely to attack us during hardship and obviously the pandemic is a time of great uncertainty and crisis, so ergo we’re more likely to get possessed during it. At least I think?

Anyway, not really sure if I’m buying that to be honest, but I don’t really believe in demonic possession in the first place. If you do, then I’m sorry but it’s one more thing that you’re going to have to worry about in 2020 now. It’s almost over though hey so maybe things will get better next year?
