Dunkin’ Donuts — an official sponsor of Liverpool – have issued an apology to the club’s supporters after they changed their club’s crest to the Dunkin’ Donuts logo, swapped the Shankly Gates at the top with doughnuts and, most diabolical of all; edited the Hillsborough eternal flames into milkshakes.
The flames were added to the badge in 1993 as a tribute to the 96 people killed in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, so not sure what Dunkin’ Donuts were thinking of here. The real cherry on top though was changing the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ slogan to “America Runs on Dunkin”. Ugh.

@DunkinDonuts Typical yanks! No thought of honour, just concerned with shoving your product down peoples throats to make a profit. #LFC

@TheKopMagazine @DunkinDonuts @LFC If defacing the club's crest wasn't sordid enough, replacing the memorial with coffee is revolting.

@DunkinDonuts Reducing the memory of victims, and the pain of #Hillsborough to a crest competition was foolish. #ApologizeAndWithdrawCrest

@DunkinDonuts and Advertising Agency have zero knowledge of LFC history. I won't buy your product anymore. What a Stupid Ad!! 🙁

@thekopmagazine @dunkindonuts bad form. Doubt they even know what those flames represent.

Dunkin’ Donuts deleted the Tweet and gave this apology:
We apologize for any insensitivity regarding our tweet supporting an LFC-themed promotion featuring the LFC Crest. As a proud partner of LFC, we did not intend any offence, particularly to the Club’s supporters. We have removed the tweet and halted the campaign immediately.
Liverpool fans should probably be more vexed about the fact they just lost to fucking Besiktas in the Europa League, but hey, I guess this is pretty annoying too.
