Ben Affleck Has Defended The Enormous, Indefensible Phoenix Tattoo On His Back In New Interview

It wasn’t fake after all.

Back in 2015 we wrote about Ben Affleck’s questionable new tattoo that he got after going through a rough break-up with Jennifer Garner.

At first he told people that the tattoo was fake and that he got it for a movie he was filming, but no one really believed him. Fast forward to 2019 and he has finally told the truth about the tattoo and says while the reaction from people was “not positive”, he’s happy with it regardless.

He told Ellen:

Yes, it’s a phoenix, rising from my ass. I was about to say it represents something really important to me, but maybe, just, we’ll skip that

He then got serious:

It represents something very important to me. It’s meaningful to me. I like it. It’s something that I sort of kept private, I wasn’t doing photoshoots or whatever. I love my tattoo. I’m very happy with it.

You’d think he would play it off like he was going through a rough time and made a huge mistake and got a horrific tattoo that no one in their right mind would dream of getting. But nope, he actually loves it and has no regrets at all.

Fair play to him – Ben Affleck is a legend in the game and if he’s happy with his tattoo then I’m happy with his tattoo. Maybe he really does like it. His ex-wife Jennifer Garner doesn’t though:

You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart’. A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.
