The other day a clip of Conor McGregor having a playfight with Bukayo Saka on the pitch at the Emirates stadium went viral, and a load of Arsenal fans went into meltdown over the idea that their star player could have been injured by the reckless UFC legend, which would be absolutely disastrous for their season.

Well, it seems that the top brass at Arsenal are in agreement, because they’re now looking into the incident as they consider whether protocols need to be put in place to stop this sort of thing from happening again:

Now obviously that all seemed like a bit of harmless fun and even Saka looks like he’s having a great time, but wouldn’t it be the most Arsenal thing ever if Conor McGregor accidentally injured him and Saka ended up on the sidelines for 3 months? Do we even know if Conor McGregor is an Arsenal fan? What if he’s a Tottenham fan?! I mean, you might say it’s questionable enough allowing this mental, coked out, violent, former UFC fighter near your star player, but if it turns out McGregor is a Spurs or even a City or Chelsea or United fan, then it would be absolutely brainless allowing him anywhere near Saka.

Here’s how the Intercept reported on the incident:

Arsenal have vowed to avoid a repeat of the bizarre scenes on The Emirates pitch that followed a Champions League game on Tuesday night, when Conor McGregor was seen play fighting with Bukayo Saka, who asked him to “be careful”.

The embarrassing episode has been the subject of an internal club inquiry into how the high-profile UFC fighter — known as The Notorious — was able to get on the pitch, where he also had a kick-about with Declan Rice and Saka, who had both just played in the 2-0 defeat of Paris Saint-Germain. While Arsenal wouldn’t comment, well-placed sources confirmed that McGregor had gone on to the playing surface without the club’s permission and had been asked to go back inside the stadium, but there is still a high level of concern about how the UFC fighter was able to practice some of his moves on one of the club’s most valuable players.

Arsenal’s investigations have shown that McGregor and his entourage received VIP tickets at the last minute through a third party, 1 Access — a company that provides corporate packages and has a box at the Emirates where celebrities are regularly entertained.

The box is near an area where players often gather post-match, and it was here that McGregor met a couple of Arsenal players. McGregor accompanied the players through the tunnel on to the pitch, and was initially not challenged by security.

Well, not sure whether security sh@t their pants or were just unsure whether McGregor was allowed on the pitch at Arsenal’s stadium, but apparently he was escorted out eventually. Still, not soon enough. He could have done some serious damage! Just ban him from the Emirates at this point to be on the safe side.
