American Troops Overseas - Egypt

The Egyptian conflict which is still ongoing also had a heavy US hand, but it was a confused and flapping hand. Before President Morsi was ejected by the Egyptian military, America was pro-Morsi and pleaded with the military in Egypt not to depose him. Then, after the dust had settled it continued pumping cash into the military that had supposedly got rid of their mate.

The whole situation was a bit embarrassing for America and involved a lot of convoluted, verbal back peddling to try to make it look like they hadn’t been lying and/or making stuff up.

Egyptian attitudes towards America are pretty sour, there are a lot of rumours circulating that Obama actively helped the military government get into power. In recent months America has been fairly non-committal about its allegiance to Egypt, and Egypt’s pro-Palestinian vibes can’t have pleased them at all.

Mideast Iraq US

Basically the US needs the Egptian controlled Suez Canal to remain open so they can get ships to Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s why they switch teams whenever they fancy, there’s nothing humanitarian about it, they just need to keep Egypt sweet so that they’ll keep the passage open for them. So for now they’ll have to kind of back a Muslim military coup, yeah… the US supported a military government. Good luck spinning that one Barry.

American Troops Overseas - desert warfare

I’m not saying that America only supports the bad guys and I’m not saying they never support the good guys, it just seems they support whoever suits their needs and sod the deaths of civilians; as long as the finance-war cogs keep grinding, they’ll keep firing. And before the complaints come flooding in, no, I don’t blame real American people or the troops that end up dying in the desert, this is purely sat in the lap of greedy politicians and fat cats.

On a different note, I’m not sure I’m that comfortable with America having troops in more than one-third of all the countries of the world. Some of them I’m sure are on valid and essential peace keeping missions, but it has to be a worry.

It’s not that I don’t trust the judgement of the American citizens (although they did vote in Bush), it’s just that the citizens aren’t even told what’s going on. So American politicians basically have carte blanche to roll in and smash apart anything they wish without worrying about upsetting the humble voter. I’m no conspiracy nut but are we witnessing a New World Order creep over the horizon?
