Looksmaxxer Drowns In Thailand After Jumping Into Lake While Fleeing From Police

An American fitness influencer/looksmaxxer has died after drowning in a lake following a ‘steroid and drug fuelled rampage’ that resulted in him fleeing from Thai police.

Connor Murphy, 31, was seen behaving erratically on the streets of Samut Prakan, Thailand, yelling prayers, rolling around on the floor, and arguing with a security guard after trashing his condo at a luxury housing estate in the Bang Phli district.

When police arrived, Murphy legged it to a nearby lake where he dived in naked, swam until he was exhausted, and then disappeared under the water.

30 minutes later – rescue divers retrieved his body from the 8ft-deep lake.

Officers reportedly refused to dive in the water after him while he was swimming, worried that he would drag them underwater, and so stood there monitoring him until he stopped moving.

Police Captain Weeraphong Rupsuay of Bang Phli district station said: ‘The body is currently undergoing an autopsy, and all evidence, including the white pills found inside the car, has been sent to a laboratory for examination.

‘We are awaiting the autopsy results to determine whether narcotics or alcohol were present in his system. It is not yet known what type of pills were found or what the syringes were intended to be used for.

‘He is believed to have been living in Thailand for at least two years by continuously renewing his visa.

‘As for his apparent religious behaviour, it may have been his personal beliefs. He suddenly became frantic without warning, despite never having displayed such behaviour before.’

Searching his home afterwards, officers found it heavily vandalised, with black and yellow paint splashed and smeared all over the place.

Murpy’s 22-year-old Thai girlfriend said that before his rampage, he had invited her to go shopping, and she declined.

She said: ‘He also went on a rampage around two years ago, but I don’t know if he had a similar history before coming to Thailand. I don’t know if he used drugs either, and if he did, he never did so in front of me.

‘I often tried to stop him from doing certain things, and that led us to living separately. As far as I know, he ran an online food supplement and fitness business with a friend.’

Murphy, who branded himself an ‘anti-shirt activist’ and a ‘Chad’, built up an impressive social media following over the last decade; 2.4 million followers on YouTube and 380k+ on Instagram.

Aside from the fitness and looksmaxxing stuff, he had also been documenting his mental illness for the last few years, and unfortunately, it sounds like he experienced some kind of psychotic break over in Thailand which resulted in his untimely death.

Sad that he couldn’t get the help he needed, and makes you wonder how damaging this perfectionist “looksmaxxing” mentality can be on a person’s psyche. Imagine being a young, conventionally good-looking lad with a ripped physique, and never being satisfied when you look in the mirror?
