Top Boy Star Michael Ward Raped Woman In Car, Court Told

Michael Ward AKA Jamie from Top Boy is on trial this week accused of raping a woman in the back of a Mercedes after a nightclub party on January 1 2023.

The British actor, 28, denies all five charges against him, which include two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.

He claims all sexual activity between them was consensual.

The alleged victim claims she and Ward met at the New Year’s Day party at the Infinity Lounge nightclub in Gants Hill, east London, and then went to an afterparty in Stratford.

She alleges that Ward led her to a parked car, and once inside the vehicle, grew impatient, ignored her refusals to have sex, and ordered her to close the door when she tried to leave, before raping her.

In police interviews played to the jury, the woman said she felt “numb” and “scared” and did not immediately report the rape because she was processing what happened and felt intimidated by Ward’s TV star status.

Upon his arrest 3 weeks after the incident, Ward had stated: “I want to put on record that we had consensual foreplay and consensual sex.”

Ward has been dropped by UK agency Olivia Bell Management, and you have to think it’s goodbye to his career, whether he’s found guilty or not.

I know he hasn’t been convicted yet, but there has to be some pretty solid evidence for him to have been charged. Not great for a guy who received BAFTA’s EE Rising Star Award in 2020. He had such a promising career ahead of him after his incredibly solid work in Top Boy.
