Belfast Knife Attack Victim Was Previously Held Hostage And Tortured By Drugs Gang

New information about the past of Stephen Ogilvie has come to light after he was stabbed and nearly beheaded in Belfast on Monday, and it seems like the guy has been through more than his fair share of violent trauma in life already.

Ogilvie, 44, was tortured, doused in aftershave and set on fire by a drug dealer in a brutal attack in a Scottish flat 25 years ago.

As per MailOnline, Ogilvie, who has learning and hearing difficulties, had been living with drug dealer David McLeave at a flat in Livingston in 2001, having previously moved to Scotland from his homeland in Northern Ireland.

The dealer, then 21, and his associates, Barry and Paul Campbell, kidnapped Ogilvie by forcing him into a car and taking him to a separate address.

While there, they gave Ogilvie the date rape drug GHB and burned him with a lit cigarettes as he was passed out.

They then stripped their unconscious victim and doused him in aftershave before setting him on fire.

Ogilvie woke up to find his head and groin engulfed in flames, with McLeave filming the whole thing while cracking up laughing.

Fearing for his life, Ogilvie fled back to Northern Ireland where he told authorities about his ordeal.

McLeave (above) was jailed for 14 years in April 2003 after a High Court trial in Edinburgh. His accomplices Paul Campbell, then 20, Thomas Irvine, 21, Edward Lindsay, 23, and Lee Kingham, 21, were also jailed for drug offences.

Barry Campbell, then 21, was jailed for six years for his role in the abduction of Ogilvie and for possessing a rifle without a licence.

Fast forward to 2026, and Ogilvie is stabbed and slashed multiple times in the street by a Sudanese immigrant who he had helped move in to a neighbouring home days earlier.

According to the latest updates from the hospital in which he is recovering, Ogilvie lost his left eye, sustained severe damage to his right eye (leaving him at risk of total blindness), and received deep lacerations across his face, neck, and back.

So yeah, the poor guy has really been through it. It’s tragic to think that someone with learning difficulties could be so poorly mistreated throughout his life, and even after having the good sense to escape his situation in Scotland and return to Northern Island, he ends up the victim of a near-beheading by a guy he had shown kindness to just days earlier.

Here’s hoping Stephen Ogilvie makes as good a recovery as is physically possible in his situation. No one deserves to go through that amount of pain and trauma.
