You’ve probably seen/heard of Hanoi’s famous Train Street in Vietnam; a narrow street in country’s capital where trains travel right past coffee shops and cafes.
Obviously there’s plenty of warning in place to ensure no one is walking over the tracks when the train passes, but most of it is down to common sense. Once in a while though, you get someone who’s a little bit too close to the action, whether they realise it or not…

Ouch! Now in fairness to the guy, it seems like quite a bit of the train went by him before he got whacked in the knee with the boarding steps. It does seem a bit odd that the previous boarding steps missed him, but maybe he jutted his knee out just an extra inch or so and that made all the difference. Maybe he would’ve noticed how close he was if he wasn’t too busy filming?
Would be interesting to know what the damage to his knee was, as I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s got some long-term or even permanent damage there. At the very least, he suffered the dead leg from hell. Should thank his lucky stars for his friend’s quick reaction, as that could have turned out a whole lot worse.
The bad news is that officials in Hanoi aere considering permanently closing off Train Street to tourists in order to avoid having a disaster on their hands. In fact they’ve already closed and re-opened it a number of times so it’s hard to know what the situation is exactly as of today. Can’t say I blame them when you see some of the other clips doing the rounds:
The type of idiotic tourist that will make the authorities to ban other tourists from coming to Hanoi train street again. pic.twitter.com/omV85lgiMH

Why can’t we just learn how to behave abroad, eh?
