There’s been a lot of buzz around horror movie ‘Weapons‘, set to release in August this year following a huge bidding war over which production house was going to secure rights to the film – eventually snagged by Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Wrecked). In fact Get Out’s Jordan Peele sacked his entire team after they missed out on the movie because he loved the script so much.
Weapons is expected to be not just the best horror film of the year, but one of the best films of 2025 overall. Judging by the new trailer, they could be onto something:
Damn, how creepy does that look? Definitely looks like there’s some kind of supernatural hypnosis going on, with people stabbing themselves with forks and chasing each other around and whatnot. And what’s with that kid stepping over the salt?
It also stars two of the finest actors in the game right now in the legendary Josh Brolin and the awesome Julia Garner, who has been killing it ever since her show-stealing performances in Ozark. You can already tell from the trailer that she’s putting in another masterful performance with this one.
The marketing for Weapons has been topnotch so far, and it’s great that they haven’t given too much away with these trailers. Let’s hope the movie itself delivers when it lands on August 8 2025. Can’t wait.
