Very sad news in the pro wrestling world today as the ‘homicidal, suicidal, genocidal, death-defying maniac’ Sabu has passed away.

If you were a wrestling fan in the 90s – you probably remember Sabu. He carried a steel chair with him everywhere, springboarded off the top rope a lot, and somehow always ended up tangling himself in barbed wire every time you saw him.

There’s no word yet on how he died, but some people are noting that he took some nasty bumps at a wrestling show a few weeks ago – including going face-first into barbed wire and cracking his head open on the concrete floor after being thrown out of the ring:

Sabu had issues with drink and drugs throughout his career, and word is that he was high as a kite during this final match. Even still, he was out there aged 60 still sacrificing his body for the sake of a crazy bump, just like he did in the 90s.

No one embodied the ECW style more than Sabu, which was so influential that it inspired the Attitude Era over at WWE. Unfortunately, Sabu never had the best reputation backstage and so maybe wasn’t able to capitalise on that style as much as the Dudleys or RVD when the extreme style went mainstream, but that doesn’t change the fact that he helped massively to pioneer it.

RIP to a hardcore legend:

For the time Howard Stern roasted Triple H to his face for dating Chyna back in 2002, click HERE. Bit harsh.
