What Is 65 About?

The title of this movie hints at the fact that it takes place 65 million years ago. A space mission ends in disaster when the vessel crashes into an unknown planet, leaving Mills (played by Adam Driver) and Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) as the only survivors.

However, in a plot with some similarities to the famous twist in the original Planet of the Apes film, it turns out that they’re actually back on Earth. The difference is that the trip has taken them back millions of years in time to a planet filled with aggressive prehistoric beasts.

This means that it’s drawn comparisons with dinosaur movies like the Jurassic Park series and Land of the Lost. It’s been written by the people behind A Quiet Place and the trailer reveals an interesting mixture of the futuristic spaceship and the giant dinosaurs that immediately makes it stand out.

Going back to the plot, the survivors have just one chance of escaping, but they need to make their way through a dangerous, unknown land to make it happen. 65 has an early March release date in the US, having had its earlier 2022 release postponed and with no plans to add it to streaming services yet confirmed.

The Chances of Success

One of the most interesting things about 65 is that it combines a couple of themes that are popular right now. By adding sci-fi and time travel elements to a prehistoric adventure it could benefit from the popularity of different genres. New sci-fi movies for 2023 like Rebel Moon and The Wandering Earth 2 could make this a profitable year for the genre and show that these movies are still in demand.

While time travel is a popular theme too, there has been a lack of films based on dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts in recent times. However, the interest we have in these things can be seen in the gaming world, with the Prehistoric Kingdom game that was released in 2022 and the fact that the list of 2023’s upcoming dinosaur games includes titles like The Lost Wild and Exoprimal.

Turning to casino games, slots such as Star Invaders, Dino Zone, and Jurassic Island all show how popular these themes remain with players. These are among the games we can see when searching for a casino with a welcome offer, also known as casino bonus. Sites including Pokerstars Casino and Zodiac Casino provide a wide range of themed slots, which reveal the trends that players currently search for.

Bearing all of this in mind, 65 seems to have a solid chance of success. It taps into some markets that have been extremely profitable for movies for decades.
