Axe Murders - daniel morgan

Morgan was a private investigator and had been investigating drug-related police corruption in London. On 10 March 1987 after a drink at the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham he was found dead in the pub car park with a single axe wound to the back of the head. His watch and wallet had been taken but he had a large wad of cash that was left untouched. His trouser pocket was ripped open and notes that he had been seen writing earlier were gone.

Loads of people were arrested, interrogated and charged but the charges were always dropped. Over the next twenty years there would be five inconclusive inquiries carried out by the police.

No one has ever been convicted. Dodgy. The case was reopened for inquiry in 2013 and even the Home Secretary Theresa May acknowledged that there was “no likelihood of any successful prosecutions being brought in the foreseeable future”.
