Step Brothers is probably one of the funniest of Will Ferrell’s movie – although yeah, I know, there is quite a lot of competition there – so it’s no surprise that people have always talked about the possibility of a sequel to it.

Earlier this year, Ferrell himself revealed that there had been discussions about the potential sequel already, and now he’s gone one step further and decided to tell us that he’s got a whole plot for the movie worked out. Speaking to the New York Daily News, he had the following to say about it all:

We talked about Step Brothers and then Adam and I got sidetracked with other things.

We had a whole story where John (C. Reilly) and I follow our parents to live in a retirement community and try to convince them that we earned the right to retire as well.

The sequel thing is so funny because, we decided obviously to go down the road with Anchorman, and we made what I thought was a really great sequel, really funny.

The entertainment media and fans beg you, and beg you, and beg you for sequels, and then you make it and you definitely have a fraction that’s like, ‘Well, not as good as the first one.’

So I guess it’s a catch-22. It’s a nice catch-22, because people love the movies in the first place.

Doesn’t really sound like he’s that keen on doing a sequel after Anchorman 2, but I suppose it’s kind of promising that he’s developed a whole plot for the movie. Mixed signals there right.

To  be fair though as well, even the set up of Ferrell and Reilly living in a retirement home sounds like it could be solid gold already. Maybe we’ll get to see this in 2019 or something if we’re lucky.
