Everyone knows that the best part of a roast is the Yorkshire pudding, so why aren’t there more Yorkshire pudding based fusion food items out there on the market?

At least the guys over at Rebels Smokehouse in Beverley, East Yorks have heard our prayers and decided to develop a pizza inside a Yorkshire pudding. It features a sausage base topped with lashings of cheese and tomato and will only take away 1500 calories from our daily allowance. Joy.

The Yorkshire pudding is pre-cooked and then the topping goes inside the oven upside down so that the pudding remains crisp. It’ll cost you £15.95 which is pretty much double a large pizza from Caspian, but as it’s so goddamn huge and unique I doubt anyone is going to complain about it.

Restaurant owner Sean Singer explained his idea behind the new food item:

Yorkshire Pudding Pizza 2

I was working with co-owners Jason Rowe and Lucas Billingham to create a nostalgic menu when we came up with this.

We were thinking of the Chicago town pizza – because we all ate these as a kid, more often than not in frozen form, when we decided to pair it with the Yorkshire pud.

Of course, it was the natural progression as we’re all from Yorkshire.

It tastes great. It is so right, but so wrong. It plays tricks on your mind.

Yeah I mean, it looks excellent and I would definitely be up for trying one, just can’t see myself heading up to East Yorkshire anytime soon. Think they’ll Deliveroo it down to London?

For more Yorkshire puddings, check out the Yorkshire Pudding burger, which doesn’t quite look as good any more.
