It’s no secret that Jason Derulo is one of the most relentless sh@ggers in music, but that doesn’t mean he should get to bang every woman that signs to his record label, does it? Of course not. But that’s the trade he (allegedly) thought he was making when he signed R&B singer Emaza Gibson to his Future History record label in 2021.
Gibson, 25, thought it was a ‘no-brainer’ and signed the record deal, but now claims that Derulo, 34, made multiple unwanted sexual advances toward her once they started working together, and then binned her contract when he realised she wasn’t going to reciprocate.
Gibson, who is suing for sexual harassment, says Derulo would often invite her out for drinks, which she would turn down as she wasn’t a drinker and wanted to keep things professional either way. Instead, Derulo started bringing alcohol to their studio sessions, with Gibson claiming she was pressured to drink ‘inappropriately large amounts of alcohol’ during a recording session in September 2021. She told NBC News:
“I told him that I wasn’t a drinker … so it’s like, you know, you’re not listening to that the first time I tell you, and you’re still pushing on me. It’s, like, pressure at this point.”
She also claims that she was exposed to a lot of drugs, especially cocaine, while working with Derulo, and that he once asked her partake in ‘goat skin and fish scales’, which is a really weird bit of Haitian slag that apparently means to get coked up and have sex. The lawsuit states that she considered this an ‘explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success.’

Well, you’d hope none of these allegations are true, but I guess that’s up to the courts to decide. Who knows, we may soon be singing [to the tune of Jason Derulo] sexual groomer (allegedly).
