I’m not sure if you would ever describe being sent loads of food as a terrifying stalking campaign, but when you hear what’s been happening to 58 year old Diane Maines over the last couple of years then you might start to change your tune.

It was back during the first lockdown in April 2020 that Maines first started receiving unwanted food deliveries to her house, starting with about five or six a day. Since then this has spiralled to her sometimes receiving up to thirty takeaways that she didn’t order a day, although the campaign has slowed down and sometimes she doesn’t receive anything for months. They always come back though.

You might think that it would be easy to track down who this was and stop them as well, but the takeaways always come from different restaurants from all over Tyneside, are always marked as cash on delivery and always have different fake names, phone numbers and emails attached to them. Basically whoever is behind it is putting in a lot of effort to terrorise Diane and it’s having a severe effect on her mental health.

Here’s what she had to say about her ordeal:

I don’t know what to do. I keep myself to myself and only have a small circle of friends, so I don’t know who would want to do this to me.

I feel like I’m going mad. It’s really affecting my mental health and sleeping. Every time I hear a car go up the street I’m anxious.

I have no idea why this is happening. It’s getting frightening and I’m
terrified to be in my own home.

I’ve had to change my life to try and deal with this and I just want it to stop.

Wow. That really does sound like it’s awful for her and it’s even crazier that she has absolutely no idea who is behind it and the police can’t figure it out either. Surely they could track the IP addresses associated with the orders or something if they really wanted to?

Anyway, this is either some weird incel that’s targeted her randomly or some really strange electrician or something that she might have been slightly rude to. Either that or she’s lying and knows exactly who it is. Maybe she’s even sending them to herself because she wants the attention?

Whatever it is you know that the explanation is something completely crazy. Hopefully the mystery is solved soon.

For more of the same, check out the most dangerous street in the country to get a takeaway. Thankfully nothing to do with this problem.
