One of the internet’s main characters this year has been 21 year old Polish girl Julia Wendell, who shot to viral fame after she posted up an Instagram account where she claimed to be Madeleine McCann and provided a somewhat convincing argument as to why she thought this was the case.

From an outsider’s perspective it seemed fairly easy for her to either prove or disprove this idea just by having her take a DNA test, but for some reason this has been rumbling on long enough that she’s now living in California in a safe house after receiving death threats. Definitely didn’t see the story go there. Private investigator and self professed medium Dr Fia Johansson has been helping her out and has now revealed that the tests have been ordered – although this might not be the end of the process:

If the results come back that she’s British or from that area then we are going to continue our investigation into Madeleine McCann and communicate with the detectives in Portugal.

We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland.

That sounds pretty vague doesn’t it? Can’t this stupid private investigator just get a sample off the McCanns to put an end to the debate once and for all? Pretty sure that they’ve already said they would be willing to provide one, so I’m not really sure why Julia’s in the US and all this is happening when she can quite easily sort it out? Really does seem like they’re trying to milk it out as long as possible.

Interestingly, Julia’s own current parents have refused to co-operate with the investigation, saying that there’s no way that her claims are true and refusing to take DNA tests too to confirm that she’s actually their daughter. That would seem kind of suspicious if they didn’t have anything to hide, but you can maybe see why they don’t want to entertain their daughter’s apparent delusions.

Will  be interesting to see what happens when the results come in as hopefully they only take a couple of days. Let’s see what happens.
