I know that Eurovision is an insanely popular event, but I don’t think I’ve ever really heard of any major celebrity fans of it before. Turns out that none other that Will Ferrell is a massive fan, presumably because of that spoof movie he made a couple of years ago about it that nobody remembers.

Anyway, it’s notoriously hard to get a room in the city where Eurovision is hosted as thousands of people congregate there even if they’re not attending the show as there’s loads of fan villages and the whole city is on heat basically. Air BnBs and hotel rooms go for four times their regular price and it’s just a majorly hectic vibe.

And apparently Liverpool – where the contest is going to be held next year – is so booked out that even Will Ferrell can’t get a room for himself and his mum. The Hollywood actor was speaking to BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball when he announced his predicament:

My mum really wants me to take her to Eurovision.

She’s dying to go and she’s always wanted to go to Liverpool.

But the hotels are booked now.

All we need is a room with two bunk beds that’s clean and tidy.

Lol – neat reference to ‘Step Brothers’ there hey? Anyway I don’t think that Will Ferrell is actually appealing to the people of Liverpool for a room here – surely he has enough to just fly in on a helicopter or something if he really wanted to? – but it obviously sent Twitter into a bit of a meltdown:

Maybe he would actually do it now? It would be great PR for the guy as the pics would no doubt go viral, although I’m not really sure if he actually needs to do that at this point of his career. I guess a few more people might actually check out his movie though.

Also not sure what Lynn R is trying to achieve by tweeting Zoe Ball that info, or why that other person thought it was a good idea to tweet Jimmy Fallon to pass on the info? Those people have thousands of people tweeting them every day and much better things to do than pass on your message to Will Ferrell. Get a grip losers!

For more of the same, did you know Will Ferrell wasn’t first choice for Buddy The Elf? Imagine how that could have turned out.
