Jon Bernthal just put in a career best performance as disgraced cop Wayne Jenkins in David Simon’s ‘We Own This City’ and it looks like he’s going to follow it up immediately with another prestige drama series on Showtime where he plays a high class hooker.

‘American Gigolo’ follows the character of Julian Kaye – the protagonist from the original 1980 movie – who is struggling to find his place in the modern-day Los Angeles sex industry, as well as searching for the truth about the frame that sent him to prison all those years ago. All the while he desperately clings to the hope of reconnecting with his one true love Michelle, but as you might expect that’s not as easy as it sounds written down here.

Yeah I’m not sure how exactly how good that looks – feel like it looks a bit silly doesn’t it? – but I’ll probably watch anything with Jon Bernthal in these days so will probably end up tuning in. Just seems like a very schlocky and dumb show for him to be involved in, but hopefully I’ll be proved wrong when it drops in September. We’ll see.
