Whenever I think about the possibility of going to prison in the UK, I never think that it’s going to be anywhere near as bad as its counterparts in the US that we often see on TV and in movies because well, it’s the UK isn’t it?

Turns out my assumptions aren’t exactly correct and whilst people might not be getting raped all the time, there are still regular fights all the time and the video below from HMP Onley in Rugby, Warwickshire more than proves this. It shows an altercation between members of two rival gangs from Hackney and Peckham who are fighting for control of the G wing of the prison, ending in a brutal beatdown of one inmate by the others.
There’s a bit of blood in this, so if you don’t want to see people getting beaten the crap out of them then I suggest you turn away:
Damn that guy really didn’t look like he had any clue what was going on there hey because he was getting the crap beaten out of him so badly. Also kinda worrying that he was only wearing his pants which suggests he might have been attacked in the showers – and we all know what that means.
A prison spokesman said the following about the incident:
We do not tolerate the use of mobile phones in prisons.
The account has been removed from Facebook and those involved have been punished.
Anyone found with a mobile phone faces extra time behind bars, we are spending millions on security measures such as body scanners and £2 million to detect and block phones being used in prison.
Sounds like a useful use of resources. Dunno if you know this but HMP Onley has an absolutely terrible reputation for gang violence and just as a prison in general, so it’s probably gonna need a whole lot more than that to clean it up. Just saying.
