Even if you only have a passing knowledge of popular culture, I’m sure you’ll all have heard who Vince McMahon is because at this point he’s cut through into the mainstream as the crazy billionaire owner of the WWE. He’s a big deal and basically up there with some of the most famous people in the world.

I guess then that we probably shouldn’t be surprised that Vince McMahon also seems like a bit of a scumbag considering the character that he’s played on TV for the past couple of decades and the fact that he’s a very rich white man, but we’re finally hearing about it now thanks to these bombshell revelations. These allegations have just been detailed in a report from the Wall Street Journal (which is sadly behind a paywall so I can’t read it, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing all the juicy details in the coming weeks/months) but I’ll detail the main points about it below.

It all started when n anonymous email was sent into the WWE board, accusing McMahon of paying a former female paralegal employee $3 million in hush money after an affair between the two so that she would stay quiet and leave the company. It also claimed that her pay was also doubled from $100,000 a year to $200,000 after she started sleeping with McMahon.

The WWE board have apparently commissioned an independent investigation into McMahon’s conduct and have unearthed several other cases of misconduct, hush money and NDAs over the years. Another senior WWE employee John Laurinaitis has also been identified as regularly engaging in similar activity as well, going back years too.

Who would have thought that rich white billionaire men in charge of a steroid fuelled business that regularly objectified women in its heyday might have been a bit problematic? Crazy.

Could this be the end of Vince McMahon? He is 76 now so could probably do with retiring, but he kinda strikes me as the kind of person that isn’t ever going to slow down until they’re dead. Also kinda feel like there’s no chance in hell (pun intended) he’s going to take being embarrassed and ousted from the company he turned into an absolutely humongous worldwide franchise, but who knows anymore? Might be time for one last stunner.
