Some vegans will literally do anything in their quest to convince the rest of the world to stop eating meat and it seems like their tactics are becoming more and more outlandish and bizarre.
Their latest attempt involved a chef preparing and barbecuing a ‘fake dog’ in the middle of Pitt Street Mall in Sydney, Australia as many natives prepared to celebrate Australia Day with their own BBQs. Of course the dog was fake, but it was designed to spoke outrage alongside the slogan ‘you wouldn’t eat a dog, so why eat a lamb? Go vegan!
Here’s what PETA had to say about the protest:
Anyone who’s repulsed by the prospect of chowing down on dog meat should question the incongruity of their compassion towards other animals.
This is called speciesism – a form of discrimination based on nothing more than species – and like all forms of discrimination, it cannot be justified.
As humans, we instinctively feel compassion and empathy for animals, but we’re taught that it’s OK to enslave and eat some of them, without a second thought as to who they are as individuals.
So how many people do you think that convinced to go vegan? Did it work on you? Predictably, most of the reactions seems to be condemning PETA fro traumatising young children who were at the mall and probably weren’t yet ready in their life to see a dog getting barbecued by a chef and I don’t blame them to be honest – does anyone want to see that shit?
Don’t really get why PETA continue to persist with shock tactics like this when all they seem to do is inspire hatred in the vegan community even more than they currently receive. Enough people are turning vegan anyway and this shit hasn’t really worked for the last twenty years either. Just give it a rest.
