In the last couple of years, vaping has become extremely popular, especially among people who are trying to stop smoking. However, it seems like it has moved on from being a substitute for smoking, and become something rather fashionable or trendy in itself. Some love it, some hate it, and some just hate the hipster community surrounding it – especially when they are inhaling those things everywhere they go, blowing steam clouds like there’s no tomorrow.

Pretty much everyone that smokes it considers it to be 100 percent safe, but its long-term effects are still unknown. The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention has recently become extremely concerned and has decided to investigate, as 94 people in 14 U.S. states have come down with lung diseases that seem to be related to vaping.

Although we still don’t have enough information to link this directly to vaping, it seems like the common thread as all of these 94 people who have all claimed to have vaped weeks or months before hospitalization. The symptoms of these lung diseases include shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, cough, and weight loss.

It hasn’t been reported exactly which e-cigarettes they’ve used, and some have allegedly used substances like THC or synthetic cannabinoids (K2). Preliminary studies have already been conducted in the past, and it has shown links between e-cigarette use and vascular, respiratory and cellular damage. That doesn’t sound good, but the truth is that we just really don’t know enough about them hey?

These cute little vapes, with flavors such as Lush Cupcake, Banana Madness, or Tutti Frutti may seem harmless, but if you’re smoking one of those things, you may want to think again. We still can’t point our finger directly at vapes, but as the health effects are still unsure, I would stay away from them. I mean, unless you’re smoking cigarettes, which as far as we know, is much worse.

For more of the same, check out this story about a man who died after his vape exploded in his face. Maybe steer clear of them because of that as well.
