Ukrainian Refugee Who Ran Off With Dad Who Took Her In Says His Ex-Wife Is To Blame

The Ukrainian refugee who ran off with a Bradford, West Yorkshire dad 10 days after moving in with the family has responded to claims she is a ‘homewrecker’.

Tony Garnett, 29, applied to be part of the Government’s refugee scheme but then expedited the process by joining Facebook groups where Ukrainians were looking for sponsors. He hand-picked 22-year-old Sofiia Karkadym and invited her over, and the rest is history!

Tony & Sofiia’s antics made headlines not just in the UK but in Ukraine as well after they ran off together, with Tony leaving behind his wife Lorna and their two kids. Sofiia apparently ‘broke down in tears’ during an interview with The Sun, insisting she wasn’t to blame for the break up of the relationship and claimed Lorna had driven them together with constant suspicions:

“Her constant suspicions, the tension, it just pushed me and Tony closer together.

She created this situation by constantly suggesting something was going on when it wasn’t. So this is her fault.”

Oh, right. It wasn’t that Lorna’s suspicions were proven correct, it’s that her suspicions actually caused the outcome, otherwise they would still be one happy family. Well, maybe there’s some truth to that but there’s no getting away from the fact that Tony was ogling Facebook profiles until he found the perfect Ukrainian babe to take into his family home. Don’t see him inviting a 50-year-old Ukrainian bloke over, do you?

Lorna had said she first became wary when she noticed Sofiia had “no interest” in speaking to her and just lazed about all day, only making an effort with her appearance, putting on “red lipstick and low cut tops” when Tony was due home from work.

After a neighbour mentioned they’d seen Tony and Sofiia talking intimately outside their home, Lorna kicked Sofiia out and Tony amazingly went with her, telling his family “if she’s going, I’m going”. Husband/dad of the year material or what?

Well anyway, at least Sofiia has managed to tell her side of the story now. Which I don’t think is going to change anyone’s perspective on this story, but still. She also lamented the fact that this story is giving Ukrainian refugees a bad reputation:

“They say that because of me, nobody in the UK will take in Ukrainians.

Every UK family will now think ‘, I can’t take in a refugee because she will take my husband from me’.”

Well, maybe it’s just the hot 22-year-olds they should look out for. Although it’s probably more of an issue if the man of the house is hand-picking the refugee he wants to take in rather than just being allocated one through the government scheme. And what has Tony had to say for himself after all this?
