I’m not gonna lie but there was a point in my life when I really, really buzzed off the Splinter Cell and Prince Of Persia video games, so much that I think I actually ended up playing a bunch of them so much that I ended up completing them, which was pretty rare for me back in the day.

Then one day they just stopped releasing them. I don’t know when the last instalment of either title came out but it feels like it was at least ten years ago, and whilst I haven’t exactly lamented the fact that they haven’t been around, the fact that Ubisoft is announcing that they’re working on new versions of both games has filled me with joy and excitement. Here’s the official line on where we’re at with them, courtesy of Ubisoft’s Chief Creative Officer Serge Hascoet:

I love Splinter Cell. I love Prince of Persia.

I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources.

It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means.

I mean that doesn’t sound that positive but it sounds like they want to make it happen. I suppose they’re spending a lot of time working on Assassin’s Creed – which is pretty much an updated version of Prince Of Persia – that they don’t want to ‘waste’ resources on something that might not be as successful, but maybe they should just come on and do it as it’s clearly what the people want right? Just think about it guys.

For more games, check out this real life version of a top down shooter. Pretty cool.
