Twitter Reacts To The Leytonstone Terrorist Attack With #YouAintNoMuslimBruv

Police officers investigate a crime scene at Leytonstone underground station in east London

Last night, we reported that a man entered Leytonstone tube station wielding a machete, who then injured three people whilst shouting ‘this is for Syria’.

One of the people injured is in a serious condition with initial reports suggesting that his throat was slashed. The attack is being treated as a terrorist attack, although it’s highly unlikely ISIS/IS/DAESH/ISIL had any knowledge of it or that the man in question has any real connection with them bar some sympathy/admiration.

Due to the number of commuters using the station at the time, it wasn’t long before horrific photos and video footage streamed onto social media from the east London tube station. But amid the initial fear, one of the videos of the attack — uploaded by Yusuf — basically undermined the attacker’s whole agenda with one swift, London style put down.

In the footage, the attacker has just been tasered by police officers, who are attempting to restrain and arrest him. Behind the camera, one of the witnesses — a Muslim east Londoner — shouts loudly at the knifeman: ‘You ain’t no Muslim bruv! You ain’t no Muslim!’

Soon #YouAintNoMuslimBruv was trending on Twitter, with people showing their support for the victims and their stance against Islamophobia with the phrase.

YouAintNoMuslimBruv indeed.
