Thankfully there are still a bunch of TV shows that finished shooting and will still be released in the summer months whilst we’re probably on lockdown, otherwise I’m pretty sure a bunch of us would go absolutely crazy with the lack of new stuff to watch.

One of these promising new series is called ‘Lovecraft Country’ and comes with both Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams attached as executive producers. The plotline reads like this:

‘Lovecraft Country’follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams).

This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

That sounds good doesn’t it? Take a look at the trailer below:

Yeah that seems kinda disjointed from the trailer doesn’t it? Most of it kinda looks like some kind of race narrative on 1950s America, but then you also have a bunch of monsters running and jumping around and scaring people for a little bit of it. The way that the monsters are barely in it kinda makes it out that they aren’t a major plot point though, despite the fact it’s being marketed as horror series? Not really sure how to feel about it to be honest, but I suppose I’ll tune in come the summer. Especially if we’re still on lockdown.

For more of the same, check out this Resident Evil TV show that’s apparently coming to Netflix. Neat.
