A sad day in the Sopranos community indeed. Goldee, the horse who played Pie-O-My in The Sopranos, has died following a four-year battle with Equine Cushing’s disease; a chronic disease of the pituitary gland of older horses.

We all know Tony Soprano loved animals, and there wasn’t an animal he loved more than Pie-O-My. Yeah OK Dr. Melfi might say it’s classic sociopath behaviour to display affection for animals over humans, but I do think Tony genuinely loved that horse. Would he have killed Ralph Cifaretto if he didn’t? Well, yeah probably. But still! That horse won him a sh*t-load of money and he also spent a small fortune on a Pie-O-My painting:

Which Paulie Walnuts later salvaged from a fire, with hilarious consequences:

Can’t forget that beautiful ending to the Pie-O-My episode too:

RIP Goldee – it was a fine life for a horse, indeed! Also great to know she had a much better fate than her character.
