Think back to almost a year ago when we first went into lockdown and literally everyone in the world became obsessed with ‘Tiger King’ after it dropped on that first weekend. What a time to be alive!

The hype, theories and updates about all the people featured in the series went on for months and it seems like Netflix themselves were also working on a follow up second instalment of the documentary as well – at least that’s what’s being hinted at by two of the stars from the first run via their Cameo accounts. Yes, it seems that people are paying both John Reinke – the zoo manager without any legs – and James Garretson – slimy local businessman on a jet ski – to send their birthday wishes to their friends and both of them have said that a second season of ‘Tiger King’ is coming out very, very soon:
You can’t embed James Garretson’s cameo sadly, but if you click here then he says there’s more Tiger King coming in March or April this year, so it sounds like it is definitely coming soon. The question is, will it be any good though?
To be honest, I’m not sure. The thing is, the first ‘Tiger King’ had about three years worth of footage (I think) to go through and had a natural conclusion with Joe Exotic getting thrown in jail and I’m not sure if this one will have the same narrative structure as it’s been hastily thrown together over the last year. Sure, stuff has happened – Joe’s zoo was eventually closed down, Joe thought he was going to get pardoned by Trump – but I’m not sure if it’s going to have quite the impact or storylines that the original series shared with us.
Hopefully I’m wrong, but I can see it ending up like ‘Making A Murderer’ series two for sure. As in, not very good and not even worth watching. Hell, Joe Exotic himself is barely going to be on camera because he’s been in jail the whole time. That can’t be good for business.
For more of the same, check out the limo that Joe Exotic had ready to pick him up from jail when Trump pardoned him. Really grasping at straws there buddy.
