I’m pretty sure that wherever you live in the UK at the moment, you’ll be well aware that we’re in the middle of heatwave and everyone is sweating their asses off, but you might not be aware that it’s so warm that some of our roads are literally melting.

This knowledge comes courtesy of a bunch of people on TikTok. Some users have been sharing their experiences of picking out tarmac from the road because it’s melted so much and others have uploaded videos of them walking down the street with their shoes turning black because the road has become so sludgy due to the heat.

Geez. I knew it was hot out there but that is a bit much isn’t it? Funny how the first woman says that it reminds her of being back in Australia – that’s really warm man.

Anyway, the hottest day in UK history is predicted on Saturday so make sure you don’t do anything crazy and be careful. Carry some water around with you or something and stay off the roads because it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they might just melt away in front of you. Stick to the grass?
