The best thing about the three Star Wars ‘prequel’ movies that George Lucas made was almost certainly Darth Maul (shoot yourself in the face if you said it was Jar Jar Binks) and one dedicated fan has decided to honour him by painstakingly creating a short fan film that is almost certainly better than any of those movies in the trilogy.

It’s called Darth Maul: Apprentice and incredibly took the director and his team two whole years to make. I’m sure he’s reaping the rewards now though as pretty much the whole internet is going crazy for it and it seems to be universally loved amongst Star Wars fans the world over.

Sure, there isn’t much in the way of plot but there are loads of great action scenes, stunts and special effects so all in all it’s a highly enjoyable experience:

Pretty excellent huh? Darth Maul is a real son of a bitch, but I guess we wouldn’t expect any less from him would we?

I hope the guy who made this – Shawn Bu – gets hired by J.J. Abrams to work on some of the upcoming Star Wars spin off movies or some kind of shorts, because imagine what he could do with a proper budget and team behind him. That would be something everyone would want to see.
