Remember The Wanted? They showed up on the scene around the same time as One Direction and secured themselves a bunch of top 10 hits over the years, but as 1D kept getting bigger and bigger, they just disappeared.

Turns out the lads went their separate ways and started doing their own things, but now former member Tom Parker has taken to Instagram to share an awful bit of personal news – he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Tom, who is now a father and expecting a second child with wife Kelsey, suffered a seizure in July and took himself to A&E where he was put on a waiting list for an MRI scan.

A month later Tom suffered another, more serious seizure and was rushed to hospital, where he discovered he had stage 4 glioblastoma. He has begun radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment in an effort to prolong his life. You can read the message he shared with fans below:

All the headlines are saying the tumour is inoperable and terminal, but from the looks of Tom’s message he’s confident he’ll beat it, so let’s hope that’s the case. I know stage 4 cancers are difficult to treat let alone cure but at the very least the treatment can extend life expectancy substantially. It’s just a bummer that the first symptom he apparently experienced was a seizure in July, a month before his diagnosis. Not an ideal time to be going through it either with COVID and all either.

Best wishes to Tom & his family and let’s hope they pull through this. For an ultra mainstream pop act, you have to admit The Wanted did have some bangers.
