The Rock is undeniably one of the most popular people in the world right now as he has his social media game down and just seems like a fun loving, great dude that wouldn’t offend anyone and that everyone would love to hang out with given the opportunity.

His comments in a recent interview with The Daily Star might alienate some sections of society though as he ripped into what he termed ‘Generation Snowflake’ for constantly being offended by everything. Here’s what he had to say about it all:

So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.

If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended – and that is not what so many great men and women fought for.

We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years. People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.

That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.

I mean I’m not sure if I’m smelling what The Rock is cooking right there. I get his point about ‘snowflakes’ – I guess he’s referring to vegans/millennials/whoever there – getting offended by everything and how this isn’t exactly promoting freedom of speech and a ‘do what you want’ attitude,  but to say that’s limited to just ‘snowflakes’ is a bit narrow minded.

Just look at all the people locked in constant debates about stuff as stupid as the Greggs vegan sausage roll and Brexit on Twitter – many of these people are way older than ‘Generation Snowflake’ and are arguably more butthurt about the way society is going. Hopefully The Rock realises that sooner rather than later that this behaviour isn’t limited to all the snowflakes out there or I might need to check him into the Smackdown Hotel.

Basically though his underlying message is a good one – just try and do what you want and as long as it’s not hurting anyone you should be cool. No need to get so angry about what everyone else is doing with their lives – just leave them alone. That’s the kind of ethos that every generation should probably live by but unfortunately isn’t right now. Think about it.
