The political situation in this country is once again a complete joke following Liz Truss’s appointment as Prime Minister and it became even more ridiculous today after she fired Kwasi Kwarteng from his role as Chancellor after five weeks, making him the shortest serving Chancellor in history except for some guy who died suddenly back in 1970.

Anyway, most people are predicting that Truss won’t last much longer in her role as Prime Minister either. The political editor of BBC Newsnight Nicholas Watt has said that some ‘serious people’ are going to call for her to resign next week and the bookies are currently saying there’s a 40% chance she’ll go this year, 55% next year and a 5% chance she lasts after that.

Basically, it really isn’t looking good for the woman. In fact, The Daily Star are judging the situation so untenable for Truss that they’ve decided to setup a live stream of a lettuce and see which one of them will last longer. A fresh lettuce has a shelf life of about ten days.

Incredibly, there were about 1500 people watching that stream as I was typing this, all chatting along in the chatbox. I guess people really do want to see if a lettuce can out last the Prime Minister and that’s the sort of entertainment we have to deal with these days.

I would guess that she probably will beat it because surely the Tories can’t force her out only five weeks into the job? Even though it’s been a massive disaster. Wouldn’t really surprise me too much though given the last twelve years. Place your bet with Desi Bets.
