Teenagers Guilty Of Pouring Petrol On Restaurant Diners And Setting Them On Fire

Insane story out of Gants Hill, east London, where a pair of teenagers stormed a restaurant, poured petrol all over the floor, furniture and the diners themselves, and then ignited a massive fireball then set everyone and everything in the restaurant alight.

The 17-year-olds, who can’t be named because of their age, left two people in critical condition and multiple others with severe injuries.

The teenagers had arrived in Barkingside at around 7pm that evening where they parked a stolen Toyota Prius.

One of them got out and walked to a petrol station to steal several litres of petrol in canisters before they carried on driving to the restaurant.

The boys stormed the restaurant armed with machetes and taunted diners while dousing them and the restaurant in petrol.

They then lit the fire and fled while emergency crews scrambled to stop the flames and tend to the victims.

A witness at the time said he saw a man whose entire body was burned and skin was ‘peeling off’.

Fortunately, detectives were able to track down the stolen Prius and their mobile phones, which helped identify the culprits.

After a 7-week trial, the teenagers were found guilty of arson with intent to endanger life and possession of an offensive weapon, and will be remanded in custody until they are sentenced on October 2.

Interestingly, no motive was established despite a 7-week trial. You would think for two 17-year-olds to do something that evil, there must have been a highly personal vendetta with either the restaurant owner or someone who was dining there, or perhaps a racial motive, but apparently it was just a random psychotic idea they had.

In any case, I’m not sure 17-year-olds should be afforded the luxury of anonymity when their crimes are so severe. They were found guilty of ‘intent to endanger life’, but this was basically an attempted mass murder. These teenagers had machetes and tried to burn a restaurant to the ground while it was packed full of people.

I don’t know if rehabilitation is possible for these types so let’s hope they get life in prison or something very close to it.
