New Study Suggests That Couples Who Drink Together, Stay Together

A new study published in the Journals of Gerontology Series B: Psychological Series has claimed something that I’m sure most of us may have suspected for some time – that couples who get drunk together are way happier than those who don’t.

The study itself examined the marriages of those over 50 who had been in a relationship with their partner for on average around 33 years and it was found that the marriage was said to be way more satisfying than if only one of them did and the other abstained. The amount or frequency of alcohol drunk didn’t seem to matter – as long as one partner wasn’t getting completely and utterly wrecked – but what was important and did seem to have an effect was that both people were drinking together at the same time.

However, there was also another important finding to the study – it determined that if both people in the relationship abstained from drinking then this also resulted in a healthy relationship too. I suppose this makes sense because if two people have similar attitudes to drinking then it makes it easier to attend the same social functions and also way easier to get along with each other if you’re both in the same mindset (most of the time).

Also way easier to get completely hammered on a Wednesday if that’s what you want to do. And you know what? Now that we’re in the middle of a heatwave, why not get started today? No better time for it eh?

Just make sure your relationship has some underlying commonalities in it, otherwise you could end up like this woman who completely destroyed hers for cash and didn’t even win anything.
