Boxing movies are normally pretty good but they usually follow the same tired formula, revolving around a disgraced/up and coming boxer overcoming insurmountable odds to win the fight of his life.
Whilst Southpaw doesn’t exactly stray from the formula, it does look like it’s going to be pretty interesting and throws in some kind of hard knock life/gangster kinda vibe too judging by this trailer. It also star Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker, is directed by the guy who made Training Day and is written by Kurt Sutter – the guy who created Sons Of Anarchy – which makes it sound like it’s going to be pretty good to me.
The trailer below just cements that opinion. Check it out and let us know what you think. Let’s hope it’s better than Eli Roth’s Clown, which also looked phenomenal but turned out to be super boring and not even that scary.
