We haven’t really been talking about it on Sick Chirpse, but ‘Shazam: Fury Of The Gods’ has been peforming terribly at the box office and has even worse reviews which has highlighted an apparent feud between its star Zachary Levi and The Rock.

The story goes that The Rock refused to film a cameo for a post credit scene at the end of the movie and also didn’t want Shazam to appear in his ‘Black Adam’ movie either and this is somehow being interpreted as Levi blaming The Rock for his movie’s poor performance. There was also some talk about how there was going to be a scene with Hawkman and Cyclone inviting Shazam to join the Justice Society but it wasn’t allowed to happen for some reason, maybe because of The Rock?

Not really following that one or really sure how that works, but Levi has now taken to Instagram to set the record straight:

I may or may not have, you know, reposted something in my stories about a story that I had nothing to do with, that [The Wrap] had reported.

And then I got flack about it, because people were saying, ‘You’re trying to blame this guy because you’re not doing well. You’re trying to blame…’

Listen, I haven’t blamed anybody. There’s not one single person that I have blamed for anything about the way that our movie has performed.

If you’re listening to videos, or watching videos of me, or looking at things and you’re getting that idea — you are being fooled.

You are being brainwashed. You are looking at propaganda.

Those are clips. Those are edited. Those are taken completely out of context.

And so, I just encourage you, if you’re out there if you’re hearing this right now — and by the way, this will probably all get chopped up too. The irony. But I swear to you, I’m not blaming any of you.

I’m really not. I have my thoughts about what’s going on, but here’s the thing. The reason I decided to share that was not because I want to blame anybody for anything.

It’s because I do not want to be blamed for things that are not on me.

And I know, as a leader and I believe a protector of my family, my family and everyone who worked so hard on these movies, and everybody who worked so hard at New Line and Warner Brothers and DC.

The hard working wonderful people, and these organizations, and everyone within this Shazam production.

For years, we have been doing everything we can to fight for you, the fans

The original intent was to have Hawkman and Cyclone be there to invite me to the Justice Society.

We were thwarted.

I’m not trying to blame anybody for our movie for doing however well or not well it is doing.

I am merely coming to the defence of the people that ought to be defended, I am coming to the defence of truth,

Because truth is good, and we should all live in it, guys.

Even when it’s hard, even when it’s something that might fly in the face of something that we already might have believed before and now it challenges whatever our idea or our opinion is.

We need to live in the truth, OK?

That’s a really weird video isn’t it, especially as he’s talking about the truth all the way through it and then doesn’t even say anything about it really, more focussing on what isn’t true in his feud with The Rock. There’s just a lot of unhinged energy o display from him and the tonal shifts with him talking are all over the place as well.

As for his feud with The Rock, I’ve really gotta ask the question as to does anyone actually care about it? Nobody even went to see ‘Shazam’ and I think that only slightly more people bothered with ‘Black Adam’ so is anyone gonna care about the fact that the two stars have beef now? Not really is the answer, so quit trying to make it a thing. Losers.
