15-year-old Anthony Ruelas, a student at Gateway Middle School in Texas, has been suspended after rushing to the rescue of a girl who was having an asthma attack.

Anthony carried the girl to the school’s medical room after announcing “fuck that, we ain’t got time to wait for no e-mail from the nurse”. His teacher had advised they sit around and wait for instructions on how to help the girl, even after she’d been wheezing and gagging for three minutes.

Here’s the incident report the teacher wrote afterwards:

During 5th period another student complained that she couldn’t breathe and was having an asthma attack. As I waited for a response from the nurse the student fell out of her chair to the floor.  Anthony proceeded to go over and pick her up, saying ‘f–k that we ain’t got time to wait for no email from the nurse.’ He walks out of class and carries the other student to the nurse.

Anthony’s heroics earned him a suspension however, because leaving a classroom without permission is against the rules (apparently even if it means potentially saving someone’s life).

Anthony says:

I was like what? I’m suspended for this? Like, I was trying to help her.

I broke the rules but, she needed help, like, she needed help.

Good on this kid. I mean someone has to do something when the teacher’s best plan of action is to write a fucking e-mail and wait for a reply. I guess the nurse isn’t a very fast typer?

Can’t help but think this could have all been avoided if that girl had her asthma inhaler on her though. Need to keep that shit on you at all times. Well maybe not all times when there’s heroes like Anthony around to save the day. This girl has to at least give him a hand job behind the bike shed now right? Has to.
