So apparently the late tyrant Saddam Hussein previously tried to ban Pokemon (the TV show and the franchise in general) because his spies said that the name was too close to the phrase, “I am a Jew” in Syriac.

The General Security Directorate, a domestic security force, expressed concern over the Japanese kid’s show and toys to Saddam and said that many of the creature’s names were actually insulting phrases. Documents uncovered by US troops reveal a note which read:

We have come aware of a phenomenon that spread quickly in the Muslim world and among our children.

Our sons have become attached to this phenomenon. The names in this phenomenon have many meanings, such as:

Pokemon: Means ‘I am a Jew’.

Charmander: Means ‘God is weak’. (God almighty is above what they claim)

Pikachu: Means ‘Be a Jew’.

Growlith: Means ‘God is stingy’. (God almighty is above what they claim)

Magma: Means ‘God is stupid’. (God almighty is above what they claim)

Pokemon

I have no idea if any of this is accurate or not but either way, it does make me wonder what they were smoking to have such extreme paranoia? I’m pretty sure Pokemon was not an evil plot to secretly insult a religion. If it was, lame plan guys.

Pokemon always seems to come under fire with weird conspiracy theories — like the time a church tried to claim that it is the reason for homosexuality.
