The release date of GTA 6 has dominated video games news for years, with some people thinking that it might end up being one of the launch titles for the next generation of consoles when the PS5 and the rest of them drop in October.

Turns out that this is probably wishful thinking though, as Rockstar dropped the following statement about their upcoming marketing budget, courtesy of BroBible:

According to Essentially Sports, Rockstar recently filed an SEC report that included their proposed marketing budget for the next few years and revealed they are planning on spending almost $90 million between the beginning of April in 2023 and the end of March the following year.

Like basically all of the news related to this topic, we can only speculate on what this means, but when you consider that sum is more than twice what they’re planning on shelling out over any other annual period, it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to assume we might have to wait until 2023 (or even as late as 2024) for GTA 6 to arrive.

Hot damn – three more years AT LEAST. Given that video games usually come out in the run up to Christmas, you’re probably looking at October 2023 realistically. Video games are also notoriously delayed for long periods all the time, so if that’s when they’re aiming for it to be released you might as well add another year on for good measure as well. Just saying.

For more of the same, check out this GTA 5 mod that lets us see what GTA 6 might look like. Breathtaking.
