We all know how annoying it is to have a flight delayed, even if that delay isn’t 18 HOURS, which honestly just feels like a flight that should be cancelled.

One such delay was well worth the wait, however, for North Carolina man Phil Stringer, who basically hit the lottery when his flight from Oklahoma City to Charlotte, NC, finally took off on Monday morning.

It wasn’t that Phil had an empty seat next to him, or even an empty row next to him, but the ENTIRE PLANE to himself, plus a bump up to first class where every air stewardess basically treated him like royalty the whole way. How f***ing awesome is that? It’s every plane passenger’s dream!

No crying babies, no drunk idiots fighting, no overbearing seat recliners or waiting around for everyone to grab their luggage when the plane lands. Just plenty of space and peace and quiet for the whole flight.

Why was the flight even delayed, anyway? According to WSOCTV, there were ‘storms and other issues’ across the country. Over those 18 hours, every other passenger had either booked another flight or given up on flying out that day, but not Phil.

@phil.stringer 18-hour delay turned this flight into a private party! ✈️🥳 Watch how the amazing crew and I made the most of it! #americanairlines #flightattendant #airplanetiktok #privateparty #FlightFun #delayedflight #fyp #viral ♬ Makeba – Jain

The fact he was the one and only passenger who stuck around meant the crew had no choice but to take off and fly him to his destination. Phil actually felt a little bad about it:

“They had to get called; they were at their hotel, like they were going to go to bed. I felt so badly because I was like, oh my gosh, they literally had to come here for me.”

Then again, when you have his kind of outlook on life, this is the kind of cool sh*t that happens to you:

“I turned a bad situation into a good one. I had just posted on my social media that day that your attitude determines your direction.”

Although… there was another headache waiting for him when they landed in Charlotte:

“My bag actually did get misplaced for about 45 minutes in Charlotte. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ We lost the one bag that we had on the plane.”

Not the greatest look for American Airlines.
